Whether you are an individual practitioner or an agency, you might be interested in adding the Skills System as an intervention to your repertoire and/or programs. Emotion regulation skills are essential for adaptive function for clients, support, and collateral support providers. Although the Skills System is designed to be taught to individuals who have learning challenges, becoming a skills coach, group leader and/or trainer requires a commitment of resources, time, and energy.

The training/consultation program at Skills System tries to offer options for individuals and agencies at all stages of commitment. At the early phases it is important to gain overview information to understand the model. As individuals and agencies increase familiarity, it may be useful to seek Certificates of Specialized Proficiency to ensure competencies.

Description of the Skills System Certificate of Specialized Proficiency Program

The Skills System certificate program is designed to help practitioners and agencies have tangible goals related to Skills System implementation. The Certificate of Specialized Proficiency evaluates competency. This means that the individual learns the basics and practices utilizing Skills System concepts in the agency setting over a period of time (receiving feedback is optimal) prior to earning the certificate. There are multiple steps in these progressions that can guide professional development and agency effectiveness.

The Skills System certificate program has three levels: Skills Coach, Skills Group Leader, and Skills System Trainer.
